Well, I'm back. For a second anyhow. I wanted to say a proper goodbye to my blog.
I've really enjoyed blogging for the last several months and it has been fun to meet all the interesting fellow bloggers and readers and keep in touch with old friends too.
But my life has gotten too hectic. I write at a job all day, freelance write at night and I'm trying to do some new kinds of personal writing as well. This blog is one writing assignment too many. Geez, I have to pry my hands off my beloved Mac and see the sky sometime.
Thanks to everyone who read and encouraged me. Maybe in the future I will have more to say here again. Of course, you'll all hear from me because I'll still be getting a little blogging thrill when I'm commenting on all your sites.
Love, Violet

She Did It!

I got so worked up about the democratic primary, that I literally burst in to tears of happiness when Hillary won Texas.
I am so excited that my girl is turning it all around with the the help of my sisters from all over who recognize how much this country needs a mother and a a warrior.
I'm proud to be a Hillary supporter. Thank you Ohio, Texas and Rhode Island!

Mom's World
My friend Tracee turned me on to this fascinating photo set called Mom's World.
Joey Harrison posted these photos his mother, a passionate and talented photographer, took of her world as a woman in the 1950s. Friends, family, celebrations and daily life fill the photos, each telling a little story.
You can't help but feel a tug at your heart when you learn that the smiling, glamorous couple eventually divorced. Born in 1954, the last year of their seven-year marriage, Joey says he has no memories of the little family -- only the photos and his mothers words.
Although Joey's father has since passed away, his mother is still alive and her wonderful descriptions are included with each photo. Her commentary from this one reads:
This lovely Sunday in 1949 found us on the Thornapple River...Jerry had ordered a folding plywood rowboat as a surprise for our anniversary. He had it stenciled with a sweet name referring to me. It folded in half and was carried atop our two-toned 1949 Nash coup. We loved spending lazy afternoons on the water in the sun. We would pack a lunch of sandwiches and lemonade and then while away the hours paddling into unexplored coves, perhaps dropping a fishing line here or there, (we never caught anything!) exchanging our week's accumulation of news, and frequently jumping overboard to swim and cool off. While many would have carried a 6-pack, we took a camera bag.
Click here to see the whole set and take an amazing trip back in time.

It's Not Over Yet
I haven't had time to post. I've been inundated with family, work and personal commitments, but the real killer?
I'm obsessed with the democratic primary.
I've spent practically every waking hour reading commentary and posting on blogs. I've donated three times. I've bought HillaryGear and watched every video on Hillary Speaks for Me. I've read independent analyses like this one about whether both health plans really will cover everyone (Obama's won't even come close, no matter how much he says it will.) I check the polls every morning, then head on over to the news blogs to read opinions (and yes, if you read all the political news, you start to see a real bias toward Hill). I've also been making phone calls for my girl, Hillary, although not nearly enough.
Hub clearly thinks I've gone a bit mad and said, "You have to let it go."
Not yet. It's not over yet.

Thanks from Hill
Sorry to be all Hillary Clinton, all the time. It's just that I've developed a mad crush for my girl Hillary these days. I feel better and better about my vote every day. I know I made the right decision. Watch this thank you to her supporters. Isn't she gracious?

She Needs Money to Win...
I just made a contribution to Hillary Clinton, and I hope you'll join me in supporting her campaign. It's not too late to help!
If you truly believe that Hillary Clinton should be the next president, you must help level the playing field with a donation. Any amount will help her campaign. Give up a week's worth of lattes, forgo eating out. She needs your support now.
It will simply take more funds to go toe-to-toe with Obama. His supporters have been very generous. Every dollar raised means Hillary can afford to share her message more times and in more ways in the remaining primary contests.
America is ready for a president who brings our voice, our values, and our dreams to the White House. After seven years of George W. Bush, Americans want real change and solutions for the problems we face every day. Hillary will be ready to take on America's challenges from day one.
UPDATE: Her campaign was outspent 4 to 1 in Wisconsin. Help level the playing field by donating.

Click here to volunteer to make phone calls on her behalf.

Happy Valentine's Day

You come to love not by finding the perfect person, but by seeing an imperfect person perfectly. --Sam Keen
Today I'm feeling pretty in love.
Not because I got a dozen roses or a diamond necklace (last time I got flowers, I was like, "how much did this cost?"), but because Hub took out the garbage, cleaned the kitchen, changed the furnace filter, fixed my website, shoveled the walk, made dinner, went to the post office and did laundry yesterday.
Now that's love.
